Summary of Job Duties:

The Speech Rehab Tech performs a variety of clerical duties and assists licensed therapists with patient care procedures. Responsible for inventory, equipment and clinical maintenance and infection control procedures for department. Handles, manages scopes and other diagnostic equipment. Performs daily charge reconciliation and inputs data into reports.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year to include patient care, administrative, customer service or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BLS certification (must obtain certification within 30 days of starting this role)

  • 2 years computer experience


Additional Information:

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Responsibilities:

  • Assists licensed therapists with patient procedures by preparing patient/room/supplies/equipment, assists during the procedure, and with post-procedure clean up.

  • Checks/monitors inpatient and outpatient schedules in EHR; communicates and coordinates scheduling of patient procedures with therapists as well as radiology staff.

  • Communicates regularly with Rehab Manager and staff therapists.

  • Performs daily charge reconciliation: collects therapists' summary sheets, runs revenue/usage report (for prior day), compare summary sheets against charge report; enters data into spreadsheet.

  • Performs daily/weekly checks of inventory of supplies/equipment and ensures supplies and equipment are available to staff.

  • Provides manager a list of inventory needed.

  • Ensures endoscopes are properly transported/stored.

  • Monitors department equipment to ensure proper working order; performs daily/weekly cleaning of clinical and clerical areas.

  • Performs clerical duties such filing/copying/sending documents, patient education materials, diagnostic and therapy materials.

  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.

  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments.

  • Other duties as assigned
