The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is a global technology leader advancing a sustainable energy future for all. We are now seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controlling & Planning Manager to take on a key finance leadership role within the corporate controlling area.

In this role, you will primarily focus on the corporate and functional areas, leading financial planning, analysis, and controlling activities for Hitachi Energy’s Nordic operations. Reporting directly to the Function and Legal Entity Controlling Lead for Europe, you will ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in financial reporting while driving strategic initiatives to enhance business performance.

How you’ll make an impact

As Controlling & Planning Manager, you will lead and oversee the full spectrum of financial activities with a primary focus on the corporate and functional areas within the Nordic region. The role carries end-to-end responsibility for financial integrity, compliance, regulatory reporting, and the delivery of strategic financial insights to support business performance.

  • Lead and manage all corporate function controlling activities for Nordic operations, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Drive financial reporting and performance analysis, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecasting, and regulatory submissions, while providing senior management with clear, actionable insights.
  • Act as a finance business partner to functional leaders, supporting decision-making, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Country Finance Director (CFD) and senior leadership on key strategic financial initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management, providing guidance on investment decisions, risk management, regulatory impacts, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with global and local controlling teams to assess financial performance, identify improvement measures, and ensure consistent application of best practices.
  • Optimize cash flow and financial performance by analyzing revenue streams, cost structures, liabilities, and credit exposure, and recommending appropriate financial actions and instruments.
  • Drive finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, independently managing complex processes while coaching and developing junior finance professionals.
  • Lead and develop a multinational team of approximately 7 finance professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.

Your Background

  • Professional experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis or Controlling, ideally within a multinational organization.
  • Education: University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Leadership experience: Proven track record of leading and developing teams in a complex environment.
  • Analytical capability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and drive outcomes.
  • Communication skills: Excellent ability to communicate and present financial insights clearly to stakeholders, including senior management and auditors.
  • Accounting knowledge: Solid understanding of Swedish GAAP, IFRS, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Technical & systems skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, combined with hands-on experience in SAP FICO and related financial systems.
  • Personal attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Languages: Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
