Job Summary

The Advisor, Finance – Affordability, serves as a strategic finance partner responsible for supporting the development, evaluation, and oversight of enterprise affordability and acceleration office initiatives. While focusing on Corewell Health Care Delivery and Corporate, this role works across the health system to deliver rigorous financial analysis, validate savings opportunities, and monitor performance against established targets.

In a matrixed model, the Advisor partners with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders to ensure initiatives are grounded in financial reality, aligned to enterprise objectives, and deliver measurable value. The role supports a portfolio-based approach to affordability, including pipeline development, prioritization, tracking, and reporting of cost savings. Additionally, the Advisor works

with partners across the system to ensure the processes and structure supporting the portfolio are aligned with a systems thinking approach and alignment.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the financial oversight and performance tracking of the AO portfolio, including validation of savings assumptions, initiative sizing, and realized value
  • Partners with cross-functional teams (finance, clinical, operations) to evaluate, prioritize, and monitor affordability initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise financial targets
  • Develops and maintains standardized reporting and analytics to track cost trends, savings realization, pipeline health, and risk to plan
  • Interprets deep-dive financial and utilization analyses to identify key drivers of trends and emerging opportunities
  • Supports pipeline development of affordability initiatives, including retrospective analysis and forward-looking opportunity identification
  • Ensures financial rigor and consistency in initiative evaluation, including alignment with budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Acts as a liaison between finance and business/operational/clinical leaders, translating financial impacts and ensuring accountability to targets
  • Prepares executive-level materials and insights for AO governance, senior leadership, and board-level discussions
  • Identifies and escalates risks to savings delivery, including execution, timing, or external market factors
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of AO processes, tools, and governance frameworks
  • Acts as the Care Delivery and Corporate liaison to the System Acceleration Office. Participates in Acceleration Office initiatives and process to ensure alignment with the System process.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in health care, mathematics, statistics, economics, business administration, engineering, finance or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience in Finance, healthcare analytics, or related field
  • Experience supporting cost management, trend analysis, or value-based programs
  • Experience working in an integrated health care system with a payer and provider
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate at a manager/consultant level

Preferred

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in health care, mathematics, statistics, economics, business

administration, engineering, finance or related field
