Job Summary :

To provide highest quality health care services in a professional and competent manner by scheduling and coordinating examinations in a timely manner to best serve the needs of patients, physicians, and associates.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities: 

1. Must have a pleasant and positive attitude when dealing with customers both in person and on the telephone.

2. Must maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.

3. Maintain current knowledge of Front Desk and File Room clerical responsibilities.

4. Perform Scheduling functions:

a. Schedules patients for various Radiology and/or hospital-wide appointments or procedures in a manner consistent with the service requested.

b. Obtains pertinent patient information in order to tailor the requested procedure to the individual needs of each patient in regard to medications, dietary needs, diabetes, allergies, or other important criteria.

c. Refers inquiries to appropriate party as necessary for additional information.

d. Makes confirmation calls as a reminder to patients for appointment times and to confirm appropriate preps for certain procedures as indicated.

e. Prepares schedules for various service areas using computerized equipment in accordance with schedules as determined by the service.

f. Responsible for contacting all appropriate personnel and departments to coordinate times, preps, and confirmations of scheduled exams and for distribution of all special procedure forms to the appropriate areas.

g. Maintains current scheduling protocol and format in the computerized scheduling system, consistent with the needs of each department.

h. Works in a polite, courteous, and professional manner with associates in other departments such as registration/admitting, nursing, patient accounts, and all ancillary departments.

5. Complies with minimum standards as noted on the cover page of job description.

6. Use common sense and special medical skills to serve the customer in regard to age and diagnosis.

7. Patient confidentiality will be kept in mind at all times.

Education and Experience Required: 

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

2. Six (6) months to one (1) year prior Radiology or hospital related clerical work experience.

3. Typing and computer experience is necessary.

4. Be able to perform simple office procedures and operate office machines.
