The Direct Senior Buyer is responsible for performing strategic and tactical purchasing activities for Stryker Joint Replacement products portfolio in specific Stryker manufacturing sites, ensuring a high level of customer service and communication. The role will interface daily with suppliers in ensuring that we have procured the right amount of finished goods or materials from the supplier and will mitigate and adjust requirements based on weekly planning reviews from supply planning. The Senior Buyer leads efforts with suppliers to address product availability issues and ensures that long term supply constraint issues are resolved or escalated when appropriate. The role will work alongside supply planners, production scheduling and sourcing in the organization.

What you will do:

  • Act as the first line of contact with suppliers to adjust daily or weekly requirements based on the latest supply plan, and as first point of escalation for supplier issues.

  • Report supplier performance based on standard metrics and prepare weekly status reports representing the purchasing function at key meetings.  

  • Track and manage Key Performance Inicators for, delivery, material lead time compliance, Purchase orders compression days and past due.

  • Communicate forecast requirements to the supply base for finished goods and/or for components and materials. 

  • Serve as subject matter expert in purchasing activities and systems. Train and mentor other team members as needed to ensure customer needs are met.

What you need:

Required:

  • Degree level experience Preferable within Business/Engineering/Supply Chain management.

  •  Previous experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Manufacturing required.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in medical device or other regulated industry

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction methodologies
