Staff Accountant II


 

What you will be doing:

The Staff Accountant II will report to the Manager, Accounting and contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness. The Staff Accountant II is responsible for daily review of invoices, preparing monthly journal entries, performing monthly analytic explanations, preparing various reports, as well as producing financial reports for their assigned division(s). The Staff Accountant II also reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly and participates in monthly financial presentation meetings. All activities will be performed to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and professionalism is required to interact with various levels of management. This position must exercise independence in managing ad hoc projects while exercising good judgment about elevating questions or key issues to management for guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 – 40% - General Accounting

Perform month-end closing processes including moderately complex journal entries, account research/analysis and other supporting schedules to meet team deadlines.

Responsibility #2 – 25% - Balance Sheet Reconciliation

Reconcile balance sheet accounts in compliance with SOX requirements that may require judgment on sub accounts.

Responsibility #3 – 15% - Accounting Support

Support, research, and resolve financial inquiries from internal and external customers in a timely and accurate manner. Provide consulting regarding SOX implications of routine process changes or accounting issues.

Responsibility #4 – 10% - Analytics

Support Senior Accountants and Manager by providing analysis of account balances as it pertains to accurate financial reporting. Observe and explain variances.

Responsibility #5 – 10% - Audit, Compliance and Other Duties

Participate in year-end audit assistance, process improvement initiatives, staff training assistance, department meetings, and other ad-hoc projects and analysis. Adhere to compliance requirements for applicable regulations, internal controls and corporate policies and procedures. Train, advise and mentor new Staff Accountants as needed.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 2 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience:

  • General knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements and audit of public companies

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and deadlines with little supervision. Ability to deal well with ambiguity and shift gears quickly and comfortably.

  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Excel and Workday.

Education:

  • Bachelors

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.


 

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $51,000 - $95,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
