As Director of Technology Operations, you will have end-to-end accountabilities for all aspects of technology infrastructure and operations within our Corporate cluster. You will lead agile teams to deliver and maintain exceptional technology services and solutions, while supporting WPP's broader ET transformation programs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and execute a compelling ET operations strategy for our Corporate cluster, ensuring alignment with WPP's overarching Technology Operations and ET strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate CIO and leadership team to translate business priorities into impactful ET initiatives.
  • Identify and promote technology opportunities that optimize business processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation.
  • Manage the Tech Ops budget to ensure strategic resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all technology functions within the Corporate cluster, including cloud services, infrastructure, network operations, and overall support.
  • Deliver secure, reliable, and high-quality technology services, ensuring all services consistently meet or exceed defined SLAs and performance targets.
  • Proactively lead improvement initiatives to optimize service quality while reducing overall costs.
  • Lead and inspire a team of talented technology professionals within the cluster, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
  • Set clear goals, provide direction, and empower team members to reach their full potential.
  • Mentor and coach your team to develop their technical skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, ET colleagues, and external vendors.
  • Provide regular updates on ET operations, projects, and initiatives.
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Clearly define individual and shared accountabilities within our matrixed environment.

What you'll need:

  • Extensive experience in infrastructure and service management, with a proven track record of leading agile teams to deliver solutions for small, mid-sized, and enterprise-level customers. This includes experience with distributed systems, connectivity, and cloud services.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively operate within a matrix organization and communicate effectively with CxO-level stakeholders, both within and outside of ET.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams in a matrixed environment, including experience with onshore, offshore, and third-party delivery models.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, lateral thinking, and analytical skills.
  • A strategic mindset combined with a strong operational background, demonstrating a deep understanding of IT infrastructure and service delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, storage, databases, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management frameworks.
