About Digital Services

Digital Services is the run organization within Digital, responsible for the day-to-day operations of our global application and technology landscape. Beyond ensuring business continuity, the team drives continuous improvement in efficiency, effectiveness, and service quality, working closely with Vendor Management, IT Procurement, and Legal.

As an orchestration capability, Digital Services manages and governs services across Application Services and Technology Services, ensuring that operations, suppliers, and projects function as one integrated ecosystem. The function follows ITIL best practices, focusing on end-to-end service lifecycle management — from service design and transition to operation and improvement.

Each service domain is led by a Service Owner, accountable for service delivery, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management in close alignment with Product Owners and business stakeholders.

Role Overview

As an SAP ABAP Developer / Technical Consultant within the Core ERP (Digital Services) team, you will design, develop, and maintain SAP solutions that support critical business processes. You will work primarily in the SAP ECC environment, with progressive exposure to SAP S/4HANA development as part of the organization’s ongoing digital transformation. The role involves working closely with functional consultants, AMS partners, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and future-ready technical solutions.

This position is ideal for a developer who is passionate about clean coding, performance optimization, and continuous improvement. You will contribute to both AMS activities and project initiatives, ensuring stable operations and supporting innovation as we transition from ECC to S/4HANA.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Development & Support

• Develop, test, and maintain custom SAP ABAP programs, reports, enhancements, interfaces, forms, and workflows within ECC and S/4HANA environments.
• Implement and optimize ABAP Objects (OO), BAPIs, BADIs, user exits, and enhancement frameworks.
• Provide day-to-day support for production issues, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Ensure compliance with internal development standards, guidelines, and best practices.

• S/4HANA Readiness & Transformation

• Contribute to the organization’s S/4HANA migration by ensuring custom code readiness and alignment with new data models.
• Enhance technical skills in S/4HANA, including CDS views, AMDP, and Fiori/OData development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support proof-of-concepts, new developments, and S/4HANA-based projects.

• Service Management & Collaboration

• Work closely with the AMS partner to ensure timely issue resolution, adherence to SLAs, and continuous improvement in delivery quality.
• Participate in incident, change, and problem management activities in alignment with ITIL and internal service processes.
• Collaborate with business process experts and functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Continuous Improvement & Quality

• Drive reusability, modularity, and performance optimization in ABAP developments.
• Contribute to automation initiatives to improve efficiency in service delivery and code management.
• Document all developments and changes comprehensively to ensure smooth handover and maintainability.

• Governance & Professional Development

• Adhere to organizational coding, testing, and deployment standards across ECC and S/4HANA systems.
• Stay updated with the latest SAP technologies, tools, and practices relevant to ABAP and S/4HANA development.
• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and collaboration as part of a high-performing Core ERP team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4–8 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience in ECC environment.
• Minimum 3 years of practical exposure to S/4HANA development (CDS, AMDP, Fiori/OData preferred).
• Strong understanding of core SAP modules such as SD, MM, PP, or FI from a technical perspective.
• Experience with ABAP Objects (OO), enhancements, and performance tuning.
• Basic understanding of service management processes (incident, change, problem).
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a cross-functional global setup.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree preferably in Engineering
• Experience working in an AMS or hybrid (in-house + partner-managed) delivery model.
• Exposure to Solution Manager, CHARM, or similar lifecycle management tools.
• SAP certification in ABAP or S/4HANA development.
• Understanding of Agile/DevOps delivery models.
• ITIL Foundation certification or similar understanding of service management frameworks.
