A Day in the Life

The Sr. IT Developer will be accountable for developing programs and associated development lifecycle deliverables. This position requires interpretation of functional requirements and confirming requirements with functional business analysts, writing technical program specifications, and the writing, executing, and documenting of unit test protocols. In addition, developers may be required to assist in system unit, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing. Assignments could include conversions, reports, user-exits, and interfaces for both project and production support initiatives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for evaluating and designing, developing or modifying programs for internal functional areas including finance, human resources, and marketing.

  • Analyze existing programs and/or formulate logic for new systems.

  • Develop system design documentation (including GUI design, if required), perform coding, and test/debug programs.

  • Create ad hoc or bolt-on programs for integrations or functional business teams as needed.

  • Develop conversion and system implementation plans.

  • Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.

  • Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.

  • Train users in system enhancements and modifications.

  • Provide patch and software upgrades to existing systems as required.

  • Correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile documentation for program support.

  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

  • Works closely with functional users to enhance and maintain programs.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other comparable technical discipline with 4+ years of programming, system development or IT support experience

OR

Masters Degree in Computer Science or other comparable technical discipline with 2+ years of programming, system development or IT support experience

Nice to Have  

  • Experience with programming tools including Report and Transaction creation, Enhancements, Conversion Programs, SAP script, and Smart Forms, Adobe Forms, LSMW, ALV Reports, Dialog Programming, Data Dictionary, RFC, Proxy, ABAP Query, ALE, EDI, BAPI, BADI and Workflow

  • Experience working in SAP

  • Principles and techniques of systems analysis, design, testing, and support

  • Principles of program documentation

  • Principles of report, screen, form, and label design

  • Ability to develop, enhance and support object-oriented programing.

  • Ability to contribute across all facets of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Ability to provide after hours and weekend support and travel when needed

  • Knowledge of external interfaces, web services and connectors to other non-SAP components

  • Internal and External Customer Focused delivery

  • Comprehensive understanding of complex software and information technology solutions and ability to apply to business needs

  • Ability to work collaboratively and partner with peers and business users

  • Business analysis and requirements definition skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$100,000.00 - $150,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
