About the Role
• Lead the development and execution of GIS annual planning & monitoring, along with programme management oversight for all major projects and initiatives, and Vendor & Service Management.
• Responsible for enabling the effective operation of GIS through oversight and coordination of workflows, scheduling, budget support, executive communications, and enterprise‑wide training and security awareness initiatives.
• The role provides enterprise‑level planning, coordination, assurance, and visibility, rather than direct operational ownership of security controls or incident response.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Annual Planning & Monitoring
- Plan and track department priorities, developing and implementing processes and procedures to support department goals.
- Develops and drives detailed work plans to provide GIS Leadership a holistic review of all operational activities in the Department.
- Prepares detailed operating and financial reports in support of Department management.
- Ensures that the GIS budget is well managed against actuals and forecast throughout the year.
Programme Management
- Oversees the GIS project portfolio to ensure priority initiatives and BAU projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to strategic objectives.
- Establish and run a Project Management Office (PMO) for GIS, serving as the primary coordination and escalation point for Project Managers, providing consolidated status, risk visibility, and delivery assurance to GIS leadership.
Vendor & Service Management
- Manages key vendors to ensure core services and SLAs are being delivered, coordinates Quarterly Business Reviews, as well as roadmap sessions.
- Ensures all GIS contracts and statements of work are documented and maintained against finance standards.
Executive Communications & Enablement
- Oversees, coordinates and tracks all external-facing GIS messaging and communications, including Board, Executive Committee, and senior leadership reporting, briefings, and presentations.
- Leads preparation for all GIS meetings and events.
- Organises training and development initiatives for GIS staff. Ensure all AIA staff are properly trained in information security awareness, phishing awareness, and other such awareness trainings
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within Information Security, Technology Risk, or Governance, with a strong background in project coordination, reporting, and stakeholder management.
- Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, with proven ability to rationalise competing demands and manage multiple workstreams effectively.
- Strong presentation and briefing capabilities, with demonstrated experience engaging senior executive audiences.
- Proven ability to translate complex and technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable messages for diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to constructively shape stakeholder opinions, decisions, and behaviours without direct authority.
- Solid understanding of business objectives and operating environments, with a clear commitment to delivering timely, high‑quality, and pragmatic outcomes for the business.
- Sound judgement and decision‑making ability, including experience evaluating trade‑offs, assessing risk versus benefit, and recommending appropriate courses of action.
