Job Description Summary
The WorkDay Senior Manager reports directly to the WorkDay Director and is responsible for evaluating, designing, and implementing solutions that enhance the effectiveness and strategic value of the WorkDay platform. Job Description
The WorkDay Senior Manager reports directly to the WorkDay Director and is responsible for evaluating, designing, and implementing solutions that enhance the effectiveness and strategic value of the WorkDay platform. This role leads system assessment and analysis efforts to drive operational improvements within a supported domain—such as Spend, Finance, Payroll, HCM, or Technology. In addition, the Senior Manager is responsible for managing a team of professionals, providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality solutions. This position requires strong collaboration with customers, peers, technical teams, and operational stakeholders to translate business needs into effective, scalable system capabilities.
Required Skills:
Deep Workday Finance domain expertise including General Ledger, accounting configuration (worktags, posting rules), financial reporting, close support, Asset Management, and Banking/Settlement; able to troubleshoot complex configuration, business process, and accounting issues.
Ability to design, develop, and implement complex Workday Finance solutions—translating business needs into scalable configurations, appropriate controls, and reliable reporting, with strong awareness of upstream/downstream impacts (e.g., integrations, reconciliations).
Proficiency configuring Workday based on approved designs, including producing clear documentation (business requirements, solution designs, procedures) to support implementation and sustainment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess impacts, analyze data, and recommend practical options that drive timely decisions and outcomes.
Stakeholder partnership skills: elicit, document, validate, and communicate requirements; align priorities; and manage expectations across business, IT, and operational teams.
Operational support and ticket management experience including triage, prioritization, status tracking, and driving issues through resolution with clear, customer-focused communication.
Experience leading day-to-day team execution (work intake, prioritization, progress tracking), coordinating testing/release readiness, and navigating change control/governance processes while coaching and developing team members.
Additional Job Description
Required Education/Experience:
7+ years’ WorkDay Sustainment experience in configuration or implementor with a Partner preferably.
10+ years’ business operations experience in related area.
3+ years’ management experience.
Experience in healthcare or higher education a plus.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
WorkDay Pro certification or Implementation certification from Partner a plus.
Willing to attain WorkDay Pro certification within 12 months of hire.
Background in identifying, designing, testing, and deploying business operations processes, procedures, and best practices.
