The Ophthalmology department in Zephyrhills is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. *1 year minimum experience*

Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents history. Visual acuity, lensometry, refractions, tonometry, motility, pupil evaluation, confrontational visual fields, angle assessment. Ascans, OCT, visual fields. COA preferred but not required. Cross train as needed.

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Promptly and professionally assist the doctor in patient care
  • Complete the start of day processes
  • Perform visual acuity, lensometry, refractions, tonometry, muscle testing, confrontation visual fields, and pupil exams
  • Utilizes proper installation of eye drops and sterility
  • Perform diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the providers (Ascans, Visual Fields,Glare Test, Keratometry, Corneal Thickness, OCT)
  • Maintain medical equipment; ensure all equipment is calibrated, cleaned, sterilized, charged, and covered
  • Handle patient and clinical messages
  • Perform incidental duties as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician preferred but not required 
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong team player
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role required

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Physical requirements
    • Able to stand or walk for long periods
    • Use of proper body mechanics
  • Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 

Occupational Exposure:

  • High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
