The Company
Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.
We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.
Meet the team:
Dexcom’s Therapeutics, Diagnostics, and Insights (TDI) team, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, is responsible for developing user- and clinician-facing algorithmic features that enhance the therapeutic value of Dexcom’s world-class CGM products. The scope of innovation within TDI includes personalized self-care insights, diagnostics, and prescriptive therapeutics, spanning the entire spectrum of metabolic health from normal metabolism, pre-diabetes, early-stage type 2 diabetes, and extends through to type 1 and insulin dependent type 2 diabetes. The methods of TDI include both data-driven and model-based signal processing, control, design, and simulation. The work is fast paced, and the team uses agile R&D practices to develop software prototypes that often transition directly into clinical trials and commercial software development. Past accomplishments of TDI include the development of (i) a novel method of creating “digital twins” of people with diabetes and (ii) the use of these twins in optimizing a fully closed-loop automated insulin delivery system (“artificial pancreas”) whose performance in free-living trials matched outcomes predicted in simulation.
Where you come in:
You will be a key contributor to R&D projects in TDI, working with a team of experts in advanced algorithmic treatments, diagnostics, and insights for diabetes, pre-diabetes, and health and longevity, enhancing care from HCPs and helping people to treat better, eat better, sleep better, and live better.
You will analyze clinical trial and health records data.
You will perform modeling and design activities, and you will be involved in selecting the appropriate methods to apply, including both data-driven and model-based methods.
You will help to identify and sell innovation opportunities for TDI, responding to needs articulated by Dexcom’s commercial and strategic planning teams.
You will develop prototype software within an agile R&D framework that supports massively parallel simulation.
You will document and communicate your work.
You will work with cross-functional teams in support of downstream commercialization efforts.
What makes you successful:
You must have a hunger to make the world a better place by developing advanced algorithmic treatments, diagnostics, and insights for diabetes, pre-diabetes, and health and longevity.
You must be proficient in working with complex data from diverse sources, including clinical study data.
You must be an experienced practitioner of first principles and/or data-driven modeling methods.
You must have considerable experience translating models into signal processing, control, and/or decision- support algorithms in a biomedical context.
You must have proficiency with common software development and data analysis platforms (Python, R, Matlab, or other similar environments) and practice modern software development methods.
You must have strong written and oral communication skills, suitable for diverse audiences ranging from your peers within TDI to Dexcom leadership.
Ideally, you have been exposed to glucose-insulin metabolic health concepts, models, and technology.
Ideally, you have participated in the design of clinical trial end points and monitored their collection and analysis.
Ideally, you have a master's degree or higher in Electrical, Biomedical, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Ideally, you have experience with cloud computing environments such as GCP or AWS.
Your place of residence will be such that your regular physical presence at either the Charlottesville or San Diego Dexcom offices will be possible. You will be expected to participate in in-person meetings and/or conduct your routine work at either location with little notice.
What you’ll get:
A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
A full and comprehensive benefits program.
Growth opportunities on a global scale.
Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.
An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
