eBay’s innovative Legal Department is looking for a commercial attorney to be a key member of our team. The commercial attorney is responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of expense and revenue transactions. This position will provide legal counseling and work directly with the business units to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic counsel and proactively lead the review and negotiation of a broad range of commercial agreements with a strong focus on marketing, licensing, SaaS and professional services agreements.
- Contribute to the improvement of current processes and procedures, such as by creating templates and developing legal trainings and playbooks.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with commercial agreements and provide actionable advice to mitigate those risks.
- Provide timely and practical guidance on risk management, internal policy compliance and contractual obligations.
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships cross-functionally and within the legal team, including with strategic partners such as security, privacy, procurement and finance to ensure alignment and compliance with company objectives, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with membership in good standing in a US state bar.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial transactions, ideally with a focus on the technology industry.
- Experience in an in-house legal department, ideally specializing in technology transactions.
- Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and working collaboratively with various teams.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$126,800 - $187,550Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
