Construction of the Institute’s permanent 75,000-square-foot facility is underway with the goal of opening in early 2025. The Institute will be located on the campus of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art near Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville, Arkansas.

About The Position

HWHI is seeking an experienced Health IT Senior Project Manager to lead the development and execution of various Health IT projects and initiatives. This role will manage Health IT project teams and operational activities across the digital and informatics departments, collaborating with partner entities as needed. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of accountability, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet organizational objectives.

As part of Alice Walton’s health care transformation initiatives, you will report directly to the Associate Vice President, Strategic Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, charters, and schedules in collaboration with functional team leads to establish a structured approach to project completion.
  • Create and manage project budgets, commitments, and timelines.

Project Execution:

  • Coordinate across teams, departments, and stakeholders to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of project outcomes.
  • Monitor milestones, deliverables, timelines, and resources, making necessary adjustments to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Provide coaching to team members as needed.

Budget Management:

  • Track and monitor project expenses, ensuring adherence to budgets.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to develop deliverables tailored to relevant audiences.
  • Serve as a bridge between the working team, leadership, and external stakeholders, facilitating clear and consistent communication.
  • Periodically serve as a health care and IT liaison with hospitals, practices, and corporate partners.

Reporting:

  • Generate and distribute reports utilizing various tools to track project status and progress.

    Committee Participation:

    • Participate in strategic implementation, medical advisory, and data governance committees as required.

    Project Assessment:

    • Evaluate performance metrics throughout the project lifecycle, assessing success and identifying areas for improvement in future projects.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills and Experience

    • 5+ years in a project management role in health care or health care IT
    • Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making skills
    • Natural problem solver, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment where change is a constant
    • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Business Administration (MBA) or similar degree preferred
    • Project Management Certification (PMP) strongly preferred
    • Experience with electronic health records and national quality measure initiatives and protocols is preferred

    Physical demandsIn the work environment described, position requires sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job. Additionally, this position requires meeting the public and the organization in a professional and courteous manner.

    Work environmentWork will be performed in an office environment. The physical arrangement of the office may require the position to work in an open environment within close proximity to other colleagues.  Work will be performed in an office environment full-time (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Occasional evening and weekend work hours, and some local travel will be required.
