Are you an experienced AWS Solution Architect that enjoys developing and maintaining architecture models, technical capability models and roadmaps for digital products and product categories? In this role, you will establish, document, and communicate the technical vision for our payment transaction and settlement product and the plan to achieve it, in alignment to business outcomes and Suncor’s architecture policies, standards, roadmaps. You will also collaborate in an Agile DevOps environment with internal and external stakeholders including product team, business clients, technical stakeholders, and third-party solution or service providers.

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of solution architecture experience in mid to large sized enterprises using common industry frameworks (TOGAF,DODAF, EACOE, ZIF, etc.)
  • An undergraduate degree or relevant education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or Business
  • Strong writing and IT architecture modelling capabilities (contextual,  conceptual and logical) to author technical solution documents that align to existing policies, standards and roadmaps  
  • In-depth understanding of cloud computing concepts and hands-on experience with  AWS services, infrastructure and best practices such as
    • Managing EC2 instances
    • VPC and security group configuration
    • Serverless computing with Lambda and Fargate
  • 5 years of overall software development experience preferably in a C++, Oracle, Linux environment
  • Proven technical leadership skills with a servant leadership mindset.  Has the ability to coach, influence and facilitate the creation and delivery of the technical vision

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, document, communicate and expand the technical vision and roadmap for the legacy payment transaction and settlement product and the plan to achieve it, in alignment to business outcomes and Suncor’s architecture policies, standards, roadmaps
  • Modernize a mission critical legacy application for sustainment and business value
  • Demonstrate and guide the development team in writing maintainable and sustainable software using software development best practices (e.g. Single Responsibility Principle, SOLID, etc) using CI/CD pipelines, automation, configuration management, DevOps tools and other DevOps practices
  • Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including: product team, business clients, technical stakeholders, and third party solution or service providers
  • Develop and maintain architecture models, technical capability models and roadmaps for digital products and product categories in Enterprise Architecture repository

Location and other Key Details: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is an office based role, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
