Commercial Growth Partner

Are you motivated by orchestrating the organic growth of an industry-leading company? Is your professional calling centred around developing solid sales-enabling processes and tools, and at the same time you possess strong financial acumen? Do you thrive in an environment of complex challenges with a variety of stakeholders involved? Are you an experienced professional with project management skills and the ability to drive change and influence without formal authority? Look no further—this role offers an exciting pathway for your career!

We are looking for an outgoing and skilled Commercial Growth Partner to take on a pivotal role in developing and governing the commercial enablement processes, systems, and tools across Svitzer, with a focus on tendering excellence and growth pipeline management. Additionally, there are opportunities to partner on specific projects in our four regions: Europe, Americas, Australia, and AMEA (Africa, Middle East, Asia), and to engage in a broad range of assignments within business development, project management, solutioning, and value proposition development.

Who we are:

Svitzer is at the forefront of providing towage and sustainable marine solutions worldwide, operating across 37 countries. Our mission to enhance port and terminal safety and efficiency is powered by a fleet of 450+ vessels and a dedicated workforce of more than 4,000 professionals. In recent years, we have grown through new contracts and acquisitions, and growth continues to be a focus. We operate globally 24/7, which means that things rarely stand still. However, we excel at navigating busy periods, enjoying teamwork by listening to and helping each other.

We offer:

We offer a position with attractive development opportunities as part of a dynamic, diverse, and global company. In this role, you will be part of an international community that values professionalism and ambition as much as it does a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We operate in a lean and flat structure with a culture that builds capacity by leading with care and by learning from our people. You will have significant independence to shape your role and contribute to the successful performance of the team and our company.

At Svitzer, we understand that our team's well-being is paramount to achieving our ambitious goals. That is why we have cultivated an environment that supports not just professional but personal development for every team member. With us, you will have the opportunity to shape your path, take on challenging projects, and work autonomously within a supportive, engaging framework.

The successful candidate will join the Commercial team in Svitzer’s global head office based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Key responsibilities:

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing a solid foundation of sales enablement, growth pipeline management, and tendering excellence processes. This includes deploying relevant tools, removing non-value-adding activities, strengthening collaboration and synergies within Svitzer’s commercial organization, and enhancing efficiency in our commercial frontline. As our new Commercial Growth Partner, you will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on our business by helping stakeholders focus on the right growth opportunities and facilitating the delivery of winning proposals.

A key part of the role involves ensuring close cross-team cooperation covering all relevant perspectives of our many investment projects—ensuring a holistic view on the commercial and strategic fit from a company perspective, profit, cost, revenue forecasting, and leading the approval process internally. The role requires a high degree of multi-tasking and the ability to comfortably navigate between the “helicopter view” of overseeing the wider picture and the “hands-on aspect” of being deeply involved in numerous tenders, including financial assessments of opportunities, and developing commercial output.

Specific areas of responsibility include (but not limited to):

  • Support the regions with tenders: Ensure the delivery of winning proposals on time and as per the defined strategy through project management and development of best-in-class standard tools, process steps, and materials. Your ability to integrate and articulate data insights will be key to differentiating our tender submissions, aligning with client needs, and showcasing the value and innovation we bring to the table.
  • Vetting investment proposals: Support regions with vetting investment proposals, including the financial models, in partnership with our finance team colleagues. Strong financial acumen will be a distinct advantage in this role.
  • Facilitation of investment proposals: Facilitate the submission and approval process, supporting regional offices in obtaining appropriate approvals for the proposed investment cases.
  • Growth pipeline management: From direction setting and helping to source attractive opportunities to driving the discipline of maintaining an accurate and up-to-date global growth pipeline and progressing opportunities through stages of maturity together with the regional commercial teams.
  • Drive key business performance cadence and tools: Such as monthly and quarterly commercial reporting, performance reviews, and quarterly priority setting with a focus on delivering clear, consistent, and relevant storylines on business performance.
  • Business development process: Facilitate collaboration and ensure best practice sharing across teams, functions, and regions. Drive continuous improvement in the Business Development strategy, process, tools and framework.
  • Subject matter expertise: Support decisions with commercial analytics, market intelligence, and other relevant insights.
  • Lead smaller initiatives with the support of other team members: As you grow proficient in your role, there will be opportunities to take on smaller initiatives as a project manager with the support of your team members.

We are looking for:

As our ideal candidate, you are:

  • Customer-focused: You always put the customer first and have the curiosity to uncover and solve key customer problems.
  • Project-oriented and a strong communicator: You have sound project management skills that allow you to simultaneously lead and structure multiple growth projects. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to clearly communicate with various levels in the organization.
  • Financially savvy with strong analytical skills: You possess financial knowledge and are comfortable reviewing investment appraisal models, business case memos, and strategy recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborative and able to lead beyond authority: You will play a key role in cross-functional and cross-border teams, effectively working across geographies and hierarchies to deliver exceptional results in a team setting.
  • Experienced in business development: You have the experience and toolbox to deliver business development and tender management results.
  • High energy and a "learn it all" approach: Your enthusiasm is infectious, and you thrive working and delivering as part of a team. At Svitzer, we play "team sports", carrying a mindset of "learn it all" instead of "know it all."
  • Educational background: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, strategy, economics, finance, or another relevant field.

You have proficiency in both oral and written English as this is our working language. You must also hold a valid Danish residence and work permit. Industry experience in towage, shipping, or the maritime industry is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
