Job Opportunity: Software Developer for SMA & Muni Trading Tech

We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join our front-office technology team at one of the world’s largest asset management firms. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and support of a state-of-the-art SMA/Muni order generation, management, execution, and workflow platform.

About the Team: Our team is responsible for building and maintaining an in-house, service-based platform that operates across both public and private cloud. While prior experience in trading systems or finance is not required, we are looking for exceptional technologists with a commercial mindset who are eager to thrive in a multi-billion USD business.

Our Technology Stack: Our core technologies include .NET Core, MS-SQL Server, Oracle, and Snowflake, with AngularJS and React UI’s. We continuously experiment with and adopt new technologies to support our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support live trading systems - coding through deployment. Build expertise, domain knowledge, and relationships with users and the broader tech team.
  • Write code using .NET Core, SQL, and AngularJS/React.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select the best technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers, providing feedback to ensure adherence to best practices (e.g., style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, adapting it based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues, debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing their sources and impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of professional work experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and solid development capability.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and become a key member of the team.
  • Strong team player, collaborating with ~15+ developers globally across California, Cyprus, Dallas, and beyond.
  • Ability to perform code archaeology as we consolidate business functionality onto strategic platforms.
  • Commitment to supporting users and releases with post-deploy validation.
  • Commercial approach with an equity holder’s/owner’s ethos.
  • Focus on non-functional requirements such as efficient and useful logging, supportability, automation, and trader workflow.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Salary Range: $ 105,000.00 - $ 115,000.00
