Municipal Index Fixed Income Portfolio Manager

The Vanguard Municipal Index team plays a critical role in overseeing a suite of municipal bond index funds, contributing to Vanguard’s leadership in fixed income investing.  This role will serve as a senior member of the team with portfolio management and analysis responsibilities for Vanguard’s growing suite of municipal index ETF’s.

Core Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the municipal index portfolio managers and traders to develop and implement investment strategies across Vanguard’s municipal index portfolios.
• Lead the day-to-day management of several municipal bond index ETFs, including execution of trades in municipal securities and oversight of portfolio construction and rebalancing.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external trading counterparties and internal business partners, such as credit research, investment risk, trading operations, Office of the General Counsel, and investment strategy.
• Represent the Municipal Index team, funds, and strategies to internal and external stakeholders-including clients, industry conferences, and professional associations.
• Partner with the investment technology team to develop innovative investment capabilities and tools that enhance portfolio management efficiency and insight.
• Mentor and develop less tenured team members, fostering growth and deepening expertise within the Municipal Index team.

Qualifications:

• Ten years of related work experience, including five years municipal bond fund, ETF or separately managed account portfolio management experience preferred.
• Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
• MBA and/or CFA preferred.
