Job Description:

Our Oncology practice is looking for a Treatment Coordinator for our Toms River/Brick locations. Candidate must be able to travel to Toms River and Brick locations as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for scheduling all patient appointments and oral teaches for office visits, laboratory, injections and chemotherapy treatments in accordance with scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Supports all clinical providers.
  • Follows up with billing to ensure the timely scheduling of patient chemotherapy education and the start of all treatments.
  • Assures all scheduled appointments and/or treatments have been pre-certified.
  • Maintains close communication with supervisor, pharmacy and physicians should medication not be approved or should a delay in approval occur.
  • Utilizes effective time management skills to set priorities for all assignments/projects to be completed within required time frames.
  • Greets all patients, families and caregivers and answers the telephone in a professional manner.
  • Accepts and refers telephone calls for assigned members of the staff and answers/assists triage nurses with phones – communicate with clinical staff.
  • Identify if premeds are needed for regimen and bring to attention of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants or RNs.
  • Orders and maintains all medical and clerical supplies and equipment. Checks orders upon arrival for completeness. Ensures that supplies are stored properly. Monitors all inventory.
  • Practices OSHA safety standards. Maintains Universal Precautions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Clerical experience required
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copier and telephone skills required
  • Knowledge of EMR systems (preferably OncoEMR).
  • Must be willing to travel to office sites for coverage.
