Job Description Summary

               

Provides leadership and direction to the harvest department in organizing planting and harvesting schedules to accommodate production capacities and cropland availability. This position will communicate field and crop conditions to the Paterson Processing Facility to maximize yield and meet product quality goals. Minimize undesirable field conditions, noxious weeds, disease, pests, etc., while ensuring crops are grown and harvested responsibly and at minimum costs. 5 years related experience.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the veggie sales department and Paterson Plant Management to develop a planting schedule by commodity that accommodates the pack plan, including ground selection, varieties, and planting/harvest dates.
  • Promote safety throughout the entire Paterson Harvesting organization.
  • Responsible for grower relations, including monitoring growing practices and necessary certifications for non-GMO and organic crops.
  • Liaison between Growers and Plant Management
  • Sample and evaluate crops before harvest, providing information to Farm Unit Managers and processing facility.
  • Be acquainted with local/state/federal environmental regulations and ensure compliance with all operational permits.
  • Oversee and recommend ground preparation and crop applications such as water, fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticides.
  • Maintain records regarding ground, varieties, seasonality, or other information pertinent to a continuous improvement program.
  • Contract vegetable acreage with growers for LW Paterson Frozen.
  • Work closely with the Harvest Manager and Maintenance Manager to ensure successful harvesting of crop and equipment rebuild and harvest capabilities
  • Liaison between the harvest department and the plant production department.
  • Responsible for the harvest department budget and department metrics.
  • Assist with planning and cost estimates for annual and longer-term capital budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned to accomplish Company and Department objectives.
  • This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

    Basic & Preferred Qualifications

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree preferred in the agriculture field.
    • Minimum five years of related experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to leverage computer software programs; strong Excel skills preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Lamb Weston driving standards.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $98,770.00 - $148,160.00
