We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our Urban Planning+Design team at Freese and Nichols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cartographic design, proficiency in ArcGIS Online web applications, and a passion for teaching and training others. This role will play a crucial part in enhancing our urban planning, urban design, hazards/resilience and landscape architecture projects by providing geospatial insights and creating visually compelling maps and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality cartographic designs for urban planning projects.
  • Create and manage ArcGIS Online web applications, including StoryMaps, Dashboards, and Experience Builder.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and provide geospatial insights to support urban planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with urban planners, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate GIS into project workflows.
  • Provide training and support to team members and clients on GIS tools and applications.
  • Support GIS marketing and business development efforts that target current and future Urban Planning clients.
  • Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and best practices to ensure the Urban Planning team remains at the forefront of the industry.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban Planning, GIS, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in cartographic design and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Online and related web applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching or training others on GIS tools and applications.
  • GISP Certification.
  • Familiarity with urban planning concepts and practices.
  • Experience with GIS applications such as ArcGIS Indoors and ArcGIS Urban and ArcGIS Business Analyst.
  • Experience with other software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Google Sketchup and Lumion.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Arcade, Python, JavaScript and HTML for custom GIS web application development.
