About the role
We are looking for an experienced legal editor with a keen interest in writing and content creation, and an excellent understanding of the needs of legal practitioners, including private practice and in-house lawyers, government and regulatory bodies, academics, and students.
The primary purpose of this role is to commission, edit, maintain, and update high quality practical legal content for LexisNexis Middle East’s Practical Guidance solution.
This role is a full-time permanent role that can be fulfilled remotely. While desirable, prior knowledge of law in the Middle East is not required.
Key responsibilities:
Edit and review a broad range of legal material, including Practice Notes, Legislative Insights, Precedents, Checklists, Guides, Toolkits, etc., to ensure they meet LexisNexis editorial standards (house style, grammar, presentation) and accuracy.
Update, enhance, and commission new user-friendly, high-value online and print content, and amend outdated Practical Guidance material as needed.
Oversee the quality of external contributions to ensure compliance with editorial standards.
Enhance content to reflect new legal developments, regulatory changes, and emerging industry trends in the Middle East.
Regularly monitor changes in laws, regulations, and guidelines across multiple Gulf jurisdictions to ensure content remains current.
Conduct in-depth legal research on diverse subjects in the region to develop comprehensive and reliable editorial content.
Work collaboratively with other legal editors to achieve common content quality and quantity targets.
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports and statistics for Practical Guidance to ensure targets are met.
Develop content related to new legal technology tools and trends to keep LexisNexis at the forefront of innovation.
Communicate directly with authors to provide feedback, commission new content, and ensure timely updates.
Collaborate across departments to develop tailored content strategies aligned with customer and business objectives, driving engagement and retention.
Manage project timelines and editorial workflows for the delivery of multiple content types across several jurisdictions while maintaining high accuracy.
Key requirements:
Native English speaker.
Law degree (J.D., LL.B. or equivalent).
Demonstrated legal practice experience as a lawyer or law clerk is highly preferred.
Demonstrated editing or publishing experience is highly preferred.
Familiarity with AI tools and technologies, such as natural language processing and machine learning, to enhance content creation, review, and operational efficiency.
Computer skills in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
Excellent communication and plain-English writing skills with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Ability to work within a deadline driven environment with high attention to detail.
