We currently have an opportunity for a hybrid role as a Complex Risks Growth Leader to join our Commercial Lines team.

Role Overview

The Complex Risks Growth Leader is a senior, market-facing leadership role responsible for accelerating HUB Northeast’s growth, brand presence, and technical excellence in complex risk programs across multiple industries, including Real Estate, Construction, and Hospitality.

This role is not a traditional producer position. Instead, it blends deep technical insurance expertise, client-facing credibility, deal execution, and producer mentorship to elevate HUB’s reputation and performance in the complex risk marketplace.

The Complex Risks Growth Leader serves as both a strategic advisor and hands-on deal leader, supporting producers and new business teams from opportunity identification through placement and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Market & Growth Leadership

  • Act as a recognized subject-matter expert and brand ambassador for HUB Northeast’s complex risk capabilities.
  • Partner with regional leadership to identify, prioritize, and pursue complex risk growth opportunities across target industries.
  • Support the development of HUB’s market reputation and differentiation in complex risk programs.

Producer Enablement & Mentorship

  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource to producers, helping them identify, qualify, and advance complex risk opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on structuring, positioning, and presenting complex risks to clients and carriers.
  • Elevate producer confidence and capability in this space through hands-on deal involvement rather than classroom training alone.

Deal Leadership & Execution

  • Take an active, hands-on role in complex risk opportunities, including:
    • Coverage reviews and program design
    • Loss analysis and summaries
    • Submission development and strategy
    • RFP responses and carrier negotiations
  • Partner closely with New Business, Marketing and service teams, with clear delineation:
    • Growth Leader focuses on technical analysis, strategy, and client/carrier engagement
    • Support teams manage back-office systems and processing
  • Lead or co-lead client and carrier meetings where technical expertise and credibility are required.

Collaboration & Internal Partnership

  • Work in close partnership with existing complex risk resources (e.g., Zac Connolly) to ensure alignment, leverage expertise, and avoid duplication.
  • Collaborate across Lines of Business and geographies to bring the right solutions to complex, multi-layered risks.
  • Share market intelligence, carrier insights, and emerging risk trends with leadership and producers.

Business Development Contribution

  • While not a pure producer role, the Complex Risks Growth Leader is expected to:
    • Contribute to revenue growth through opportunity support and execution
    • Leverage personal network and market relationships where appropriate
    • Participate in select client pursuits aligned with complex risk strategy

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in complex commercial insurance programs
  • Proven success building and/or leading complex risk portfolios across multiple industries
  • Deep technical expertise in program design, coverage analysis, and placement strategy
  • Strong client-facing presence with the ability to lead with expertise rather than sales tactics
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate producers through real deal work
  • Strong carrier relationships and market credibility
  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed, collaborative environment

Success in This Role Looks Like:

  • Increased pipeline and close rates for complex risk opportunities
  • Strong producer engagement and reliance on this role as a trusted expert
  • Improved quality and competitiveness of complex risk submissions and placements
  • Growing recognition of HUB Northeast as a serious player in the complex risk space
  • Tangible revenue impact, both direct and indirect

The expected salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
