Summary:

 Reporting to the CIO and EVP of Information Technology, the Core Insurance Solutions & Systems Leader directs an organization responsible for delivering solutions across the full insurance value chain—from product design through policy servicing and claims. This strategic leader partners closely with key business functions, including Product Management, Operations, and Finance to deliver digital-first capabilities that enable ambitious growth, revenue, and efficiency targets.

This leader plays a critical role in delivering and maintaining technology solutions to support the business strategies of the Personal and Commercial Lines businesses. By fostering deep collaboration between business leaders and technology teams, the role ensures the delivery of seamless, customer-centric digital experiences for members, agents, and employees across all phases of the insurance lifecycle.

The SVP, Core Insurance Solutions and Systems will build and lead a high-performing leadership team of senior executives, cultivating a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Through strong partnerships with business owners, this role is responsible for delivering best-in-class technology platforms and solutions that achieve defined business outcomes and measurable value. Success in this role requires a highly business-oriented mindset and the ability to be a trusted, strategic partner to senior leadership.

Scope:

  • Build a strong extended leadership team, skilled at guiding the organization in a leading-edge development that leverages agile methodologies and, increasingly, AI SDLC capabilities.
  • Defines the Strategy and operating model for the Core Insurance Solutions and Systems organization
  • Defines and evangelizes the Digital Strategy for growth and competitive advantage with key performance metrics
  • Creates a technical vision and roadmap for IT Personal and Commercial Lines that includes plans for implementation of new technical advancements to support our Next Gen initiative
  • Develops an organization strategy for Engineering that accelerates delivery on business priorities, supports a growing team, and provides for flexible capacity through strategic delivery partnerships.
  • Connects IT staff to strategy, milestones and deliverables through constant communication and engagement.
  • Provides strategic leadership for all aspects of delivery for all Personal and Commercial Lines projects.
  • Drives successful project execution - monitor changing priorities in a dynamic environment, while capitalizing on opportunities for efficiency improvements. Ensures appropriate monitoring and program discipline.
  • Builds and fosters a culture of engineering excellence and accountability to produce best-in-class software solutions with a focus on team, quality, agility, trust, and timely delivery
  • Leads and oversees the evolution and selection of technology for differentiated business capabilities, priorities and efficiency.
  • Grow our engineering team - attract, hire, and manage top talent while creating a great culture.
  • Establish a talent strategy to develop employees to execute roles in our evolving technology environment.
  • Partner with business owners to establish KPIs and other success measurements to define success for the applications and solutions supporting the insurance businesses.
  • Provide thought leadership and facilitate cross functional problem solving across the company and impacted operational domains to accelerate execution.
  • Ensure a robust and effective resource capacity planning and allocation process is in place to support projects and run the business activities are appropriately staffed given business priorities.
  • Creates a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment, demonstrating authenticity and fostering trust to inspire and empower team members and colleagues
  • Actively shapes our company culture through words and actions (e.g., sponsoring an employee resource group, mentoring employees, volunteering, joining cross-functional committee/team, encouraging team member involvement in these activities)

  • Travels as needed for the role, including enterprise meetings, divisional / team meetings, representing the company at industry events, and other in-person meetings

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • 10+ years in Engineering people leadership role
  • 10+ years managing technology programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or management information systems or equivalent experience

Strategic & Business Leadership:

  • Ability to define and execute digital and technology strategy aligned to business growth and efficiency goals
  • Strong business acumen across the insurance value chain (product, underwriting, policy, claims)
  • Proven capability to translate business priorities into technology roadmaps and outcomes
  • Expertise in partnering with Product, Operations, and Finance leaders to drive enterprise results

People and Culture Leadership:

  • Ability to create a collaborative, inclusive and psychologically safe environment, demonstrating authenticity and fostering trust to inspire and empower team members and colleagues.

  • Deep knowledge of enterprise application development and modern engineering practices (agile, DevOps, AI-enabled SDLC)
  • Ability to define and lead platform modernization and next-generation architecture strategies
  • Expertise in large-scale program delivery and portfolio management across complex systems
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their business application (e.g., AI, digital platforms)

Operational Excellence & Execution:

  • Ability to drive end-to-end solution delivery with accountability for outcomes, timelines, and quality
  • Strong capability in resource planning, prioritization, and capacity management
  • Demonstrated skill in executing large transformation initiatives in dynamic environments
  • Focus on continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and measurable business value

Stakeholder Management & Influence:

  • Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills across senior leadership
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor to CIO, business executives, and enterprise stakeholders
