JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary
The marine facilities receive product 24/7/365 from a potential of five different sources – rail car, truck rack, barge/ship, pipeline and tank-to-tank transfers within the facility. The Logistics Operator has responsibilities for helping to manage the incoming and outgoing product receipts from all sources and product types based on customer demand and storage capability. The Logistics Operator will identify potential timing conflicts with assets that overlap and react accordingly to mitigate the situation in the least impactful way possible. They will work 12 hour shifts to accommodate real time changes. Correct, real time decisions are needed on a daily basis that can have significant financial impacts to both the customer(s) and ONEOK. The Logistics Operator will ensure proper handling and entry of product movement details (bills of lading, meter tickets, pipeline movement sheets) into the inventory management system (Mainsail/Mainmast), verify inventory and storage capacity, compare and analyze gauge paperwork completed by operations and the third-party inspectors to ensure accounting is receiving accurate information for customer billing. Considered a skilled specialist within area of expertise and applies extensive knowledge to complete duties/tasks. Applies knowledge and acquired job skills to complete a wide range of difficult tasks/duties. Work is completed with minimal direct supervision. May be looked upon within the work group as the "expert" or informal leader to lesser experienced team members. Has thorough understanding of the implications of work being performed and may offer recommendations/solutions to issues.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Monitors product movement schedules and oversees the incoming and outgoing product movements via ship/barge, truck, rail car, pipeline and/or intra-plant tank to tank transfers. Maintains an accurate schedule, adjusting as needed, of incoming and outgoing traffic and corresponding customer demand. Communicate changes as necessary to Terminal Operator Lead and Marine Logistics Analyst.

  • Along with the Terminal Operator Lead, coordinate product movements to be the most effective for all parties involved. This requires balancing customer requests with the terminal’s capabilities and limitations. Additionally, interacts with internal commercial, environmental, engineering and all other groups necessary to satisfy customer requests and requirements, and all regulatory requirements.

  • Monitors current product inventory levels and controls system flow using company computer systems (i.e. Mainsail/Mainmast & ODS). Analyzes current product inventory levels against tank capacity/availability and compares to scheduled incoming and outgoing product amounts. Makes real time decisions about tank space available for incoming product receipts, which may include shifting product from one tank to another.

  • Interfaces regularly with shift operations and maintenance personnel to ensure product is moved safely, efficiently, correctly and as expeditiously as possible, and coordinates taking tanks offline for routine maintenance/repairs.

  • Ensures proper completion and handling of complex paperwork including bills of lading from truck & rail loading and unloading, movement sheets detailing pipeline receipts and intra plant transfers, meter sheets from barges and vessels.

  • Gather environmental data and enter data into the QMS.

  • As needed, may be required to participate in internal and external audits; eg: ONEOK, customer or governmental.

  • Operator Duties as time allows

  • OPERATOR DUTIES (20% of Responsibilities):
    • Perform mainline operations of pumping units and operate refined and crude product pumps
    • Perform product sampling, run samples for analysis on in house lab equipment; measure location physical stock, meters, and additive variances.
    • Gauge products transferred to and from docks, tanks, trucks, rail cars, and pipelines.
    • Perform valve lineups, switch and tank changes as required to move products in and out of storage.
    • Work diligently and follow all safety requirements to prevent product contamination, spills and avoid product loss.
    • Input information into computer programs and other system applications as required.
    • Maintain location appearance, repair and replace equipment, maintain facility in exemplary compliance.
    • Perform tank inspections, make analyses of tank contents and prepare records as required, make routine daily inspection of facilities.
    • Assist drivers and customers, perform truck rack operations, and rail car offloading duties.
    • Perform general maintenance responsibilities as directed, and assist area technicians as requested.
    • Work in a safe manner, following company safety policies and programs.
    • Responsible for other projects and assignments as directed.
    • Comply with Company policies and procedures, including System Integrity Plan (SIP) and OQ requirements and implement them into location work practices.
    • Participate on the facility emergency response team.

  • AREA OF FOCUS:
    • This position requires the ability and skill to make real time, quick decisions that could have large financial impact to ONEOK and to customers. Must be able to multi-task, and to prioritize assignments. This is a fast paced, deadline-oriented position and requires an individual who thrives in dynamic and changing conditions. Must have strong interpersonal skills to interact with various groups and customers. This position also demands ability to learn quickly and current with all changes at the facility as they affect product movement and terminal capabilities. Must be proficient with creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets.

  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education

  • H.S. Diploma plus general industry or operations experience. preferred:

Work Experience

  • 3 - 5 years related work experience preferred

  • Marine scheduling and/or Inventory experience

  • Pipeline Scheduling and/or Inventory Experience

  • Terminal Operations Experience

  • Customer Service Experience
