Job Description
The Accounting Operations and Regulatory Reporting Manager is responsible for monitoring and reviewing specific financial activity, overseeing the preparation of individual subsidiary financial statements and reports, and researching, determining root cause and correcting operational issues discovered within the general ledger/various sub ledgers.
Essential Functions
• Oversee weekly, quarterly and annual regulatory report submissions to the Federal Reserve and FDIC
• Ensure changes to regulatory guidelines affecting regulatory reports are researched and appropriately applied
• Conduct research and analysis to provide management throughout Northwest with definitive financial data
• Oversee all account reconciliations, balancing, and adjustments
• Oversee the administration of securities and investments
• Oversee the administration of the general valuation allowance (GVA)
• Oversee the administration of the Evolv accounting platform
• Oversee the integration of account level information arising from mergers and acquisitions and identifying and resolving accounting operations-related issues that may arise therefrom
• Responsible for delivering process improvement within the accounting operations and regulatory reporting teams
• Ensure total document and data integrity
• Manage personal workload/workflow
• Prepare and analyze statistics/reports
• Identify and resolve specific accounting operational issues
• Preform a detailed review of the following regulatory reports filed with the FDIC or Federal Reserve, including, FR 2900, FR Y-9C, Call Report (filed with the FDIC) and all related schedules, FR Y-10, FR Y-8, FR Y-9LP, Summary of Deposits (annual)
• Review new/changes to existing regulation affecting regulatory reports filed and ensuring compliance thereof
• Recommend and oversee the implementation of process improvements, including the improvement of spreadsheets and underlying work papers utilized within the regulatory reporting process
• Review annual security reports
• Review quarterly statements/reports for the 10Q
• Review the balancing of specific accounts
• Oversee the correction of Money Gram system problems
• Oversee the administration of the securities portfolio, including the review of journal entries posted, reconciliations performed and the 10K/10Q disclosure support provided to the financial reporting group
• Prepare and/or review reports for the Board package
• Perform tests and queries on specific portfolios
• Review the reconciliations of various general ledgers
• Prepare and/or review specific quarterly profitability reports
• Prepare and/or review various annual statements
• Review loan ledger verification
• Communicate with other departments and working as a team to solve accounting operational issues that may span across Northwest
• Prepare and/or review interest income reasonability tests
• Enhance the usage of Frontier (auto-reconciliation tool) and serving as a champion of the tool with the accounting operations team
• Research and correct posting errors
• Recommend improvements to procedures
• Develop customer service levels
• Maximize technology tools available
• Minimize departmental non-payroll costs
Additional Essential Functions
• Ensure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
• Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency
• Work as part of a team

• Provide leadership and positive direction for maintaining the safety and loss prevention program
• Actively participate in and support employee participation in the safety and loss prevention program by ensuring that employees know how to properly report a safety issue, making sure that all accidents are promptly reported to Human Resources and documented, and ensuring that prompt action is taken whenever workplace hazards are identified
• Help implement emergency procedures

Education
Bachelor's Degree Accounting or related degree
Work Experience
8 - 12 years
Accounting experience
3 - 5 years Customer Service experience
