As a part of JLG Systems Engineering, you’ll be a part of a growing team that is responsible for the development and implementation of Systems Engineering practices while taking part in the development of new technologies for Boom Lifts, Scissor Lifts, and Telehandlers.  In this role, you will assist the advanced technologies group (design, industrial, electrical, controls, etc.) with multiple tasks involving the systems engineering functions.

YOUR IMPACT

As a systems engineering intern you may have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with cross functional groups to capture, document, and communicate stakeholder needs and decompose needs into system requirements.

  • Develop and document system and sub-system requirements with traceability to needs and verification & validation activities.

  • Propose and evaluate system architecture concepts, perform architecture and technology trade-off analysis.

  • Develop system operational concept documents to maximize organizational knowledge of system function.

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate complex hardware/software systems.

  • Generate engineering calculations to support trade-off analysis and simulations.

  • Understand the Product Development Process, Life Cycle Management, Reliability, and Design for Manufacturing requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering field.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of various degrees of information.

  • Graduation date of December 2025 or later.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to systems engineering through coursework or prior experience.

  • A desire to learn multiple disciplines of engineering.

  • Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.

  • Previous internship experience or work-related experience.

  • Proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.

  • Ability to work independently while prioritizing workload.

  • Flexible and adaptable to working under tight deadlines and/or changing needs.

  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up.

  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality.
