About Blank Street

At Blank Street, we believe that rituals matter, and that great rituals make your life better. With coffee shops across the US and UK, we are working to transform the high street grab-and-go coffee transaction into an experience that is higher in quality, hospitality, and joy.

What’s Brewing…

As a senior engineer for our backend you’ll be at the forefront of building amazing products for our customers and business. We’re on a path to build the most exceptional mobile experience for interacting with Blank Street - ordering, pickup, Regulars, surprise and delight, personalization and more. You thrive in a high growth environment and have a thirst for startup life. You love coffee and are energized by the creative potential within the coffee world.

Our Values

  • Magic is in the Details: We value attention to detail in everything we do. We're always thinking about the small things that make a moment meaningful.
  • Move as One: We value people who strive to be the best team player, not individual stars.
  • “My Home is your Home” Hospitality: We look for individuals who treat others the same way they'd treat a guest in their home. We care about presentation, hospitality, and having fun even when things are stressful.

What You’ll Own:

  • Collaborate with our core team working on our backend systems across various technology products, including the app, POS, and internal tools
  • Work on a wide scope of critical initiatives to work on, from core product functionality, to experimentation frameworks, to machine learning, to launching whole new products like our Regulars program.
  • Collaborate closely with our product and design teams, with exposure to company leadership
  • Contribute to the product roadmap and strategy, and be expected to contribute your ideas, push back as needed, and advocate for quality engineering.

Who You Are:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field
  • Have worked on production consumer products.
  • Experience in NodeJS/Javascript programming framework.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset. Ideally you’ll have built your own products in the past.
  • Capable of taking on a challenge. No task is beneath you, no task is above you
  • Ability to be a cross-disciplinary team member. You’re excited to learn a new skill and are able to communicate with colleagues in completely different disciplines.
  • You're a team player. You are implicitly collaborative and energized by teamwork.
  • You're passionate about Blank Street and coffee. Loving what you do makes the job even sweeter.
