Position Summary:
MPC is enhancing resources and tools like the Career Development Framework (CDF) to support the growth and development of our employees. The CDF is an essential component of our continued success as a company, reflecting our commitment to a growth mindset and being an Employer of Choice. The Career Development Specialist is integral to this work ensuring the successful planning, execution, digitization, and sustainment of CDF projects, encouraging utilization to promote maturity and integration with other Talent Management processes, and introducing learning tools and resources aligned to skills and competencies. Collaboration as part of the Career Management and Talent Management teams and with other internal stakeholders is key as we partner to provide solutions to empower effective career management and develop leadership and professional capabilities to execute MPC’s strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Plans and manages multiple Career Development Framework (CDF) projects in collaboration with the Compensation team, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), Business leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Creates, applies, and continuously improves a systematic process to identify, sustain, and evolve essential skills, competencies, and expected levels of proficiency by job family and career level.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders in HR to translate skills data, aligned to the CDF and workforce planning insights, into actionable guidance and resources for employees.
Collaborates with Human Resources (HR) and Internal Communications to create and execute communications and change readiness plans to build awareness, engagement, and adoption of career management tools and resources at all levels of the organization.
Provides Information Technology (IT), HR, and Employee Master Data team with information, data, and updates relevant to the CDF that are digitized and referenced in HR systems (Workday), career management applications (Career Hub), and processes.
Co-creates, launches, and sustains in collaboration with others in the Talent Management Center of Excellence (COE) a strategy to educate stakeholders about career management tools, best practice resources, and learning programs to build on the CDF foundation and strengthen capabilities around career conversations and development planning.
Partner with internal stakeholders to utilize the CDF to promote the ‘Driving Your Career’ theme in development planning and to enhance the effectiveness of career conversations in collaboration with people leaders.
Support the integration of the CDF into other Talent Management practices and processes to enable a holistic approach to career management, employee development, and talent planning.
Builds and maintains collaborative and productive working relationships throughout the HR community, Internal Communications, business leaders, and subject matter experts who share responsibility for career management
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Majors in Human Resources, Applied Training/Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or related field is preferred.
Four (4) years of relevant work experience required. Human Resources or Learning & Development is preferred.
Career Development/Organizational Development experience is a plus.
