A Day in the Life

Below are the key responsibilities associated with the role of Senior Statistician in the Complaint Trending and Signal Monitoring team

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Perform statistical analysis to identify trends in complaint data and generate actionable insights for product improvement and risk mitigation. 
• Develop and implement statistical models for signal detection, root cause analysis, and prediction of emerging trends. 
• Utilize software tools such as UmpSoft and R programming to analyze large datasets and create visualizations for effective communication. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality, regulatory, and engineering, to ensure compliance with complaint handling and post-market surveillance requirements. 
• Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate findings to senior leadership and regulatory bodies. 
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior statisticians and analysts within the team. 
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in statistical methodologies relevant to complaint trending and signal monitoring. 
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards such as FDA and ISO 13485 for complaint data management. 

Required knowledge and experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in statistical analysis, complaint trending, or signal monitoring within the medical device or healthcare industry.
• Ability to perform statistical analysis to identify trends in complaint data and generate actionable insights.
• Experience in developing and implementing statistical models for signal detection, root cause analysis, and trend prediction.
• Skilled in using tools like UmpSoft and R to analyze large datasets and create effective visualizations.
• Proven ability to collaborate with quality, regulatory, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with complaint handling and post-market surveillance requirements.
• Capability to mentor junior statisticians and analysts.
• Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and statistical methodologies relevant to complaint trending.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
