The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Finance team on a contract for six (6) months starting in November 2024. The team is comprised of many highly talented enthusiastic individuals who ensure the services and offerings from Kobo are available to both internal and external customers.

Reporting to the Director, Finance Data & Systems, as a Data Analyst you will play a key role in data maintenance, process automation, and systems support. If you excel in a working environment that allows you to flex your analytical skills, this role is for you!

Responsibilities Include: 

Data Maintenance:

  • Ad-hoc data pulls and investigations
  • Reconciliation of data against external sources
  • Monitor daily / monthly scheduled jobs
  • Audit existing infrastructure
     

Process Automation:

  • Build support for new products, partnerships, and regions
  • Expand and improve data controls, QA, and best practices
  • Map existing processes and build solutions to improve the movement of data

Systems Support:

  • Monitor and analyze data from payment processing platforms
  • Support ERP implementation
  • Support SSRS reporting platform

  

The Skillset:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience (please note that this role is open to recent graduates).
  • Extensive SQL knowledge and experience; comfortable working with complex joins, stored procedures, and unstructured data.
  • Familiarity with languages such as Python, Pandas, etc.; the more data-manipulation tools you have in your belt, the better!
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to share, discuss, and analyze results with stakeholders who have varying levels of technical backgrounds.
  • Go-getter! Driven to seek out solutions, help others, and always asking questions!

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with data engineering platforms such as Airflow.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
  • A passion for solving problems and breaking the norms.
