Role Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mainframe Developer with 2.5 to 4 years of professional experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining critical applications on our mainframe systems. This role requires a strong understanding of mainframe technologies, programming languages, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design, code, and implement new applications or enhancements to existing mainframe systems using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, debugging, and troubleshooting of mainframe applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize mainframe applications for performance, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Testing: Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests to validate application functionality and data integrity.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, program flows, and operational procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other developers to understand requirements, define solutions, and resolve technical issues.
  • Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve production incidents and problems in a timely manner.
  • Code Review: Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and system architecture.

Required Skills

  • 3+ Years of total experience
  • Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in COBOL.
  • Mainframe Technologies: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with:
    • Job Control Language (JCL)
    • DB2 (Database 2)
    • CICS (Customer Information Control System)
    • VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method)
    • TSO/ISPF (Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility)
  • Tools: Experience with mainframe utilities, debugging tools, and version control systems (e.g., Endevor, Changeman).
  • Operating Systems: Familiarity with z/OS.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
