Job Description Summary:

KUMC Pediatric Research Assistant will support multiple projects aimed to serve families of autistic children and the systems that support them. This will include the Online and Applied System for intervention Skills (OASIS) Training Program, and the development of a train-the-trainer model of our OASIS Training, the development and establishment of a statewide resource center for families of autistic children in and out of the foster system, and educational events focused on preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The Research Assistant will be cross trained to support each of these projects as a part of the larger research team. Duties may include creating dissemination materials, event coordination, activity facilitation, recruitment, and data collection and analysis. The Research Assistant will also assist with any additional grant-related and research activities including grant proposal writing, survey development and dissemination, and other project activities.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Facilitate project activities such as training, webinars, community collaboration calls, team meetings, and data collection.

  • Assist with data collection, data entry, data management, and other related tasks.

  • Coordinate training schedules across collaborators with supervisor and trainees; assist with standard office responsibilities (e.g. preparing materials, filing).

  • Complete assessments during baseline, post, and follow-up sessions.

  • Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings.

  • Utilize professional writing skills and a knowledge of standard research practices and data collection tools in performing work.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, such as assisting with other grant or research related tasks and standard office responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience with grant implementation, data management and analysis, program development and public-facing training activities in a collaborative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree.

Work Experience:

  • At minimum 1 year experience of training others in either clinical or professional settings).

  • Experience exhibiting understanding of scientific approaches to treatment such as the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, particularly involving children.

  • Experience conducting interventions or research with children with autism (or related research projects).

Skills:

  • Quick to learn new technologies.

  • Strong collaborator and ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independent contributor.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills as evidenced in work history.

  • Strong oral communication skills and professional writing skills and a knowledge of standard research practices and data collection tools.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and/or Google Suite applications.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
