Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $31.50.

This position plays a key role in communicating and supporting JM’s core values while delivering the outstanding JM experience. We are seeking a highly motivated, career‑oriented individual who is eager to grow with Johns Manville and contribute to long‑term operational excellence.

The Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the plant production schedule, coordinating closely with customer service, production, materials, and corporate teams to ensure we meet or exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Core Scheduling & Planning

  • Prepare and maintain the master production schedule, ensuring accurate sequencing and lead times to meet customer shipping dates.
  • Create and distribute production orders for finished and semi‑finished goods.
  • Monitor daily and weekly production performance against schedule; adjust plans to maintain schedule adherence and on‑time delivery.

Material Planning & Inventory

  • Track monthly raw material inventory and analyze variances.
  • Order all raw materials and packaging materials for plant production.
  • Create purchase orders and coordinate with freight carriers to ensure timely delivery of all materials.
  • Partner with the Material Coordinator to maintain optimal inventory levels that align with production needs and product forecasts.

Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with the Production Superintendent to understand capacity, constraints, and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service Advocates to ensure timely processing, scheduling, and shipment of sales orders.
  • Communicate with Master Scheduler at Corporate to address forecasting discrepancies or required planning adjustments.
  • Engage proactively with the Distribution Services Division to monitor and optimize safety stock, lot size, rounding values, and other planning parameters.

Support & Additional Duties

  • Assist shipping/receiving supervisors and clerks as needed.
  • Provide scheduling support to other plant schedulers as required.
  • Report production status updates to the Production Superintendent and Plant Manager.

Performance Objectives & Expected Outcomes

A successful Scheduler will:

Scheduling Accuracy & Efficiency

  • Maintain >95% schedule accuracy through effective planning and communication.
  • Achieve >98% on‑time production order release to support plant operations.
  • Optimize production sequencing to reduce changeovers and increase throughput.

Customer Service & Delivery Performance

  • Consistently support customer on time delivery targets by aligning production with demand.
  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts in scheduling to prevent late orders.

Inventory & Material Management

  • Maintain raw material inventory within ±5% of forecasted requirements.
  • Prevent material shortages through accurate planning and timely ordering.
  • Support plant improvement initiatives related to waste reduction and inventory optimization.

Communication & Leadership

  • Foster strong relationships across all plant departments through timely and transparent communication.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors consistent with JM’s core values—even without direct reports.
  • Exhibit strong decision‑making abilities, especially in fast‑changing production environments.

Requirements (Education, Skills, Abilities)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous production/manufacturing experience.
  • SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of comprehension and analytical ability.
  • Flexible schedule, including overtime when needed.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel proficiency preferred).
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and self‑motivation.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
