This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

As an Associate in the Private Markets Operations team, you will have the opportunity to serve as a key member of a dynamic and high-performing team that is responsible for providing investment support for IMCO’s Infrastructure, Private Equity, Global Credit and Real Estate strategies. 

As part of the Private Markets Operations team, you will support the Manager and other team members in contributing to the delivery of high-quality and timely trade capture and reporting.  This role will also involve working closely with internal teams (Investment Teams, Treasury, Legal, Tax, Corporate Finance) to coordinate transaction support and asset servicing, as well as contribute to a continuous improvement in culture.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Support the day-to-day operations of various private investments, including assisting with securities set up, trade processing, settlements, ongoing asset servicing and investment accounting.  
  • Accurately process and reconcile private asset trades from execution through settlement, including managing FX requirements, wire setups, perform daily trade processing and cash checks, ensuring timely and accurate capture of trade details in internal systems, and month-end reconciliation of cash across ABOR and IBOR.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of investor commitments and unfunded balances ensuring alignment with manager investment reports.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy and completeness across all operational systems, validating key details to support data consistency.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment schedules and reports, ensuring accuracy and seeking ways to enhance and provide valuable insights.  
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance automation, participating in departmental projects, system upgrades, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Respond to routine and ad-hoc requests made by internal/external stakeholders while partnering with various stakeholders (e.g. Performance, Data, Front Office, etc.) to ensure quality reporting is produced on a timely basis. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed? 

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Funding Accounting or Investment Operations with direct experience in private markets and alternative investments. Experience with direct loan operations is preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field is required.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, VBA or other programming languages is preferred. Experience with data visualization tools is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and cultivate key partnerships to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as third-party administrators.
  • Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated desire and aptitude for working with data applications. 
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • High aptitude to learn new applications and technologies to seek process improvement opportunities and enhancements.
  • Proficient with MS Suite (Excel, Word, Power Automate, Power BI, Planner, SharePoint, Visio).
  • Familiarity with investment accounting principles, including private asset structures, NAV calculations, and fund-level reporting.

The base salary range for this position is CAD $70,000.00 - $100,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers.
