Senior Media Technology Specialist

Office of Information Technology

 The Senior Media Technology Specialist supports the AV and related IT equipment in classrooms and event spaces.  In this role the incumbent is responsible for the efficient performance and maintenance of all media technology present in all spaces centrally managed by Media Services. 

The Media Technology Specialist serves as primary technician in supporting the media technology  systems that are pivotal to teaching, learning and event production; the incumbent is an autonomous professional,with extremely high attention to detail, record keeping and documenting the work using inventory systems such as Asset Panda  and ticketing systems such as DeskPro. 

This position will require a flexible working schedule in order to accommodate off hours course and event support. 

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS preferred. 

  • 3-5 years experience providing AV support or equivalent required. 

  • Experience with multiple platforms (Windows, iOS) required.

  • Experience in academic computing support in higher education is preferred. 

  • Experience with project management is preferred.

  • Strong foundation of understanding of signal flow and potential relationship with problems.

  • Working knowledge of Crestron room control systems. Ability to administer/troubleshoot system via room touch panel and remotely via Toolbox.

  • Powershell scripting or comparable scripting language  preferred.

  • Experience with networked AV control systems including troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service; and positive attitude required.

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to meet the needs of customers in a quick and effective manner. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to understand and present complex technical issues to a diverse customer base.

  • Ability to work independently and proactively; work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team.

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.

  • Ability to coach, mentor and encourage colleagues, students and temp staff.

Successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification is required.
