Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly specialized and innovative Career and Skills Architect to join the newly formed Talent and Organizational Strategy CoE at McKesson. As a Career and Skills Architect, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Skills Identification and Alignment service of the Talent Strategy practice, driving visibility to McKesson’s current and future state Talent Supply, Skills, Gaps and Career Path opportunities. You will collaborate with various stakeholders and use state of the art technology to align McKesson’s current Career Framework to a granular skills inventory, yielding full visibility to current and desired future state for each of our businesses. You will also create common Career Paths to yield a culture of career clarity and increased internal mobility across the McKesson ecosystem.
The Career and Skills Architect will drive several key responsibilities as indicated below, in addition to serving in ongoing HR strategic initiatives across the Talent and Organizational Strategy CoE.
Ownership of the Skills Identification and Alignment “service”
- Drive translation of McKesson’s Talent and business priorities and Career Framework elements to skills, leveraging a 3rd party AI technology platform. Adjust processes, inputs and outputs after pilot testing cycles, to create an effective framework.
- Partner with the Strategic WF Planning Lead and HR and business leaders to drive end to end processes, from identifying and mapping employees to skills, leading and producing readouts, and working closely with HRBPs to monitor and sustain these mappings (Talent Supply) to McKesson’s Career Framework.
- Drive deep expertise in the Job to Skills mapping process and associated technologies, creating a playbook to be used across McKesson business units.
- Design and facilitate processes to strategically categorize both Jobs and Skills, as the entry point for Strategic Workforce Planning.
- Assess Change Impacts for new ways of working, to drive employee, leader and enterprise-wide key messages.
- Design, own and drive Talent Supply reports and associated operations of deliverables, to provide ongoing visibility to HR and leaders at a moment’s notice.
- Partner with Employee Experience and Insights teams to ensure data governance measures and processes are established for skills, career paths and business titles.
Ownership of Skills Assessment Strategy and Employee Experience
- In partnership with Talent Management and Development, design, implement and mobilize the skills assessment strategy approach to support the skills identification and alignment service.
- Oversee skills gap analysis process inclusive of providing data and as a key voice/stakeholder in the Strategic Workforce Planning process.
- Establish measures and reporting to show skills progression over time, to be provided to both HR and leaders – for ex. to show trends as they relate to talent programs and processes.
- Work with HR partners to embed ongoing skills assessment and refresh into appropriate talent and performance management processes.
- Be the face or “news reporter” of any Career Framework and Skills talent supply – for current state, gaps and progression over time – by BU, function and/or McKesson in aggregate.
- Partner and co-create new ways of working with Enterprise compensation team, ensuring processes reinforce the intent of both Talent Strategy and Global Total Rewards.
Career Path Design and Development:
- Leveraging McKesson’s Career Framework, design and implement a career path construct to align with the organization's strategic objectives, providing clear pathways for career progression up and across McKesson.
- Based on skill insights and common language established, own and drive the creation of common career paths across McKesson, by collaborating with HR and leaders to create and tell career stories – encouraging career mobility.
- Work closely with TA to share career paths as input to internal hiring and talent considerations.
- Working with HR CoEs and stakeholders, develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop employees with high-demand skills and career paths.
- Partner closely with TMD to create learning programs for priority and common career paths at McKesson (over time).
- Partner with Talent and Market Intelligence to monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the career and skills architecture and paths remain up-to-date.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 7+ years’ experience in either a Career and Skills Architect role or experience in Job and Career Architectures, or a similar role in consultancy or global corporation
- Ability to synthesize information and data into a compelling storyboard and presentation(s) for leadership
- Project Management inclusive of Change Management practices and delivery
- Knowledge of career path design, skills assessment methodologies, competency models, and learning and development strategies
- Familiarity with talent management practices, including recruitment, selection, and performance management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability and Interest to pivot to various initiatives with a “can do” and “how might we” attitude
- Familiarity with technology skills and trends is a plus

Our Base Pay Range for this position
$95,300 - $158,800
