Job Description Summary:

Under the guidance and direction of Providers/Nurses, this position performs a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care.

Qualifications:

  • Current CNA, EMT, or Paramedic license required. Montana license is required within three (3) months of hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous related work experience preferred.  Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Current BLS HCP certification is required. May be obtained during orientation.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of MS Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Meditech and electronic medical record (EMR) knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences required.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Exhibits a commitment to professionalism, civility, teamwork, and customer service while undertaking all tasks and interactions with others.
  • Exhibits knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to specific job duties, patient care, and safety.
  • Operates and maintains equipment to departmental standards.  Maintains Emergency Department (ED) standards of care.
  • Executes patient care, demonstrates knowledge of and maintains the patient’s right to diversity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Provides support for the Triage Nurse.  This support includes, but may not be limited to; greets and provides ongoing communication to patients and family members, answers telephone, relays messages and directs individuals to appropriate areas, inputs patient information and vital signs into the EMR, and maintains a clean and stocked triage area and waiting room. 
  • Appropriately stocks and performs outdate checks in assigned area.  Exhibits knowledge of staffing standards and a demonstrated commitment to cost containment with all resources.
  • Communicates appropriate and critical changes in the patient’s condition, status and findings to the appropriate nurse.
  • Completes and demonstrates required competency/currency in ED specific areas as defined by leadership.
  • Complies with and maintains regulatory compliance requirements as defined for the nursing care on the unit and according to hospital standards. Exhibits knowledge and understanding of EMTALA compliance.
  • The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification.  Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs.  Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.  Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
