Job Description:

Qualified Mental Health Professional

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient and family/caregiver needs with respect to patient’s psychosocial health. Provides individual, family, and/or group therapy, creates and supervises an interdisciplinary rehabilitation plan.

  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location

  • Knowledge and understanding of cognitive behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy theories, principles, and practices

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

Meets the criteria for practicing as a Qualified Mental Health Professional in the state of Oregon as one of the following:

  • Psychiatrist or physician, licensed to practice in the State of Oregon
  • Individual with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or other mental health-related field
  • Registered nurse with a graduate degree in psychiatric nursing, licensed in the State of Oregon
  • Registered nurse with a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrable skills in the Qualified Mental Health Professional role
  • An individual with registration as an occupational therapist
  • An individual with a graduate degree in recreational therapy
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training or obtain within 6 months of hire which must be obtained by the last day of the month after the six (6) month grace period Therapeutic Recreational Specialist certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation preferred


EXPERIENCE

  • At least three (3) years experience in field of psychiatric patient care

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
  • May require periodic use of personal computer
