Job Description:

Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Post Award Grants Analyst.  The position reports to the Controller, works closely with Budget analyst, various staff on campus, and is responsible for all job duties related to Grants and their administration and accounting.  This position has the potential to work remote or be hybrid.

Responsibilities:  The Post Awards Grants Analyst is responsible for set up of new grants in the accounting system.  Track post-award grant expenditures and ensures these comply with award and grant compliance rules. Provides grant status reports to primary investigators. Prepares grant invoices and reporting. Serves as post award financial grants manager for Western, which includes budget tracking, compiling financial data for interim and annual reporting to agencies and working within agency grant management portals.  Works collaboratively with sponsored program office, academic department administrative assistants, assists with pre-award budget development and manages grant budgets post award, supports effort reporting and assists with financial agency compliance.  Prepares year end accounting entries related to grants.  Researches best practices and regulations and assists with the preparation of grant policies and procedures.  Acts as the accountant responsible for fiscal compliance of sponsored projects. 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, 2 years’ experience in an accounting related field/role, post awards grants analyst experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 3 years post award grants analyst experience and knowledge of Workday grants module, bachelor’s degree in administration, accounting or related field.

Compensation: $45,000 - $60,000 annually (FLSA exemption status will be determined by the offered compensation amount). After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
