This role is responsible for developing and implementing a sales strategy for large, strategic, complex national or global accounts/customers. Responsible for calling on accounts, developing and delivering sales presentations, responding to requests for proposals, and increasing sales and profits.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Direct a team responsible for customer accounts and manage key customers and vendors accounts directly; visit key customers on an on-going basis to maintain positive customer relations and ensure the Company meets and/or exceeds customer satisfaction ratings.
Participate in strategic decision-making with senior team members. Participate in assigned division operations review meetings to establish sales objectives and business development strategies to establish or modify sales plans to achieve desired retention and business growth objectives.
Provide sales direction, support and information to both the customer and corporate support teams. Establishes strong relationships with executives and provides thought leadership on industry/category dynamics and retail execution.
Plan, forecast and budget for continued growth aligned with the business objectives of the customer.
Drives performance (volume, profit and share) at designated account(s) through strategic planning and selling. Manages superior execution of customer plan across multiple geographies through effective communication, coordination and leadership.
Negotiate contractual documents (company protection, specifications, requirements, adherence to company policies/practices, etc.).
Develop and monitor department budget as required including responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reporting versus plan. Present quarterly and annual business reviews to the customer and management.
Support and participate in new business growth strategies by planning, managing and utilizing multiple resources available through the company's locations.
Annually develop and implement marketing strategies to support National Accounts growth and customer satisfaction in the areas of education, new product ideas, and cost/revenue concepts. Develop budget and funding plans to support activities.
Develop and secure new customers through prospecting, qualifying, building relationships and working with cross functional teams to build financial models and develop comprehensive on-boarding processes.
Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals.
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Bachelor's Degree (Required) Business Administration or other related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
Masters degree preferred.
Ten years wholesale distribution sales/operations experience.
Five years' experience in overall sales management in high volume consumer product goods (CPG) industry.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, multi-task oriented and good public speaking skills.
Experience working across business units to leverage resources and capabilities to accomplish company goals.
Ability to link strategies and objectives to tactics.
Strong leadership abilities together with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel 40% of time.
