ROLE SUMMARY
Since PAXLOVID’s emergency use authorization on 12/22/21, PAXLOVID has treated approximately 24M US patients at high-risk from progression to severe COVID-19, which can lead to hospitalization and/or death. Now FDA approved and commercialized in the U.S., this novel protease inhibitor remains the gold standard in COVID-19 treatment. Today there is an opportunity to increase treatment rates for eligible patients and bolster PAXLOVID’s leadership position in the marketplace via new clinical data, real-world data, and label indications. A new indirect competitor to PAXLOVID is expected in the COVID-19 Oral Antiviral market in 2026, and Pfizer must continue to demonstrate PAXLOVID’s benefits to patients. Lastly, Pfizer has a nextgen COVID-19 antiviral molecule in Phase3 clinical trials, and pending clinical data, could be an important piece to maintain long-term leadership in this space.
The US Antiviral Market Shaping Director will be a critical contributor to the Antiviral team and will report to the Antiviral Market Shaping Team Lead. This role is responsible for leading the COVID-19 ‘burden of disease’ (BoD) strategy for the Antiviral team, including messaging, piece development, and supporting pull-through across the team using compelling real-world data. Additionally, this role will be responsible for monitoring the competitive environment and conceiving proactive and reactive strategies, tactics, and initiatives to retain Pfizer antiviral market leadership. The role will require the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and requires the ability to identify and understand multiple forms of clinical data, and competitor trends in the market. The role will develop insights and create a commercial narrative utilizing real-world data to activate HCPs and consumers. The candidate will join a team that operates in an environment that embraces and encourages innovative ideas and creates a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
