We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Technical Service Manager. This individual will manage technical support of Spoilage Microorganisms and Pathogens, and other microbial diagnostic test kits for existing customers and identified prospects.  Also serves as technical expert spokesperson for responsible product line both internally and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a group of 12-15 scientists in Lansing and Oakdale operations providing technical support to users of responsible product line.
  • Support customers with method applications, design of validation studies, and data interpretation, and product troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate customer technical support and training activities with Sales & Marketing staff.
  • Contribute ideas for product improvement and new applications. Coordinate activities with Research & Development staff.
  • Travel up to 20%

Laboratory Support

  • Troubleshoot samples with Neogen's test kids, and/or competitive kits, per customer, sales and other's request.
  • Generate and analyze data from a variety of laboratory techniques and analytic instrumentation.
  • Perform feasibility studies to replicate results and to verify results with industry or scientific literature standards.
  • Produce and analyze data and prepare technical reports for customers and managers to assist in the advancement of business opportunities.
  • Evaluate competitor products to find deficiencies that put Neogen products at an advantage.
  • Assist customers in product performance troubleshooting escalated from Tier 1 Field Technical Service.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in physical science, microbiology, chemistry, or related fields.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience with diagnostics - (rapid methods and traditional).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical management role.
  • Experience in presenting scientific results to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of diagnostics test development preferred.
  • Knowledge of food science preferred.
  • Experience in a Technical Service role preferred.
