As a Principal Performance Architect in the Advanced System Architecture Group at Micron Technology, Inc., you will work with the memory industry's leading architecture team on new concepts that will craft the future of electronic systems!

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

Delivering architectures and innovative solutions to optimize power and performance of next-generation memory & storage subsystems! Working with design and system architecture teams to identify key system requirements, mitigate the current bottlenecks, and propose novel solutions for a wide range of applications. These activities will entail:

  • Performing system-level simulations of innovative architectures to compare with existing design paradigms, using both open and closed-loop system performance analysis.
  • Developing models of new controllers, components, memory devices, interconnects, and processors.
  • Capturing, benchmarking, analyzing applications and their corresponding memory & storage access patterns.

The scope of this analysis will span from the low-level software stack (operating system, drivers, etc.) down to the hardware and firmware controllers. You should have very strong knowledge of computer architecture and deep understanding sophisticated blocks such as caches, interconnects, memory controllers, etc. while working in a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for crafting innovative solutions, modeling, and analyzing them to demonstrate their benefits and tradeoffs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering and 8 years relevant experience
  • Superb knowledge of computer architecture analysis and design tradeoffs
  • Knowledge of architecture modeling tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of large-scale server systems with an emphasis on memory and storage subsystems
  • Exposure to architectures for large sophisticated blocks and measuring their impact at the system-level
  • In-depth C/C++ experience
  • Experience with the C++ Standard Template Library (STL)
  • Ability to quickly react and adapt to changes based on modeling results, or project changes
  • Excellent problem solving and fixing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated
  • Must be a strong individual contributor as well as a standout colleague

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computer architecture development
  • A strong knowledge through academic coursework or experience in DRAM and NAND memory systems, as well as other memory types
  • Experience with SystemC and Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM)
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience in developing memory and storage controller architecture, protocols, DDR, NVDIMM, etc.
  • Exposure to software development practices
  • Exposure to operating system (OS) memory management

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$143,000.00 - $311,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
