Purpose of the Job

Be the owner of all Warehouse Management System related topics for China and India DCs. Full understanding of all warehouses physical flows in order to keep them reflected in the most lean and correct way in the system. Manage and lead all WMS related projects for APAC.

Manage and drive implementation and enhancement of the existing Warehouse system environment. Stay ahead of the game with participating in external trainings, fairs, etc. in order to understand new solutions and their potential to existing Warehouse Management System.

Be the owner of all documentation of warehouse flows and processes and their implementation in the system.

Onboard during project phase of new strategic location and play key role in the warehousing part of this project.

Support on occasional basis on warehouse layout drawing (e.g. autocad or warehouse specific flow software).

Main tasks

  • Lead, manage and support implementation of WMS and operations in India DC within project.
    • Participate in blueprint creation and implementation of SAP EWM (WMS) for new warehouse location in India.
      • Analyze, define and document processes.
      • Monitor towards implementation.
      • Key User.
      • Lead warehouse work package for system implementation projects.

  • Business process analyst.
    • Full understanding of all physical operational flows in the global warehouses (India & China) as well as how they are reflected in WMS and ERP system.
      • Warehouse internal flows
      • Inbound, outbound as well as intercompany transfers and processes (e.g. with manufacturing).
      • Interfaces to other systems.
    • Maintain documentation of all flows up to date.
    • Understanding of terminals/devices/hardware used in the warehouses.

  • Coordination with WMS supplier and developer.
    • Being the main contact window with the WMS developer in order to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Review and approval of development proposals.
    • Lead, monitor and manage the implementation of proposals setting milestones and project structure if required by size of development.
    • Update the documentation after implementation.

  

  • Local configuration of WMS India&China
    • Key user.
    • RF scanners/other devices.

  • Escalation point for India&China WMS/IT related warehouse issues.
    • Address any issues externally or internally and ensure timely fixing.
    • Escalate to management in case of any major obstacles.

  • Internal contact window for any India&China WMS topic.
    • Coordinate and manage within regional teams any topic.

  • Challenge existing processes for continouos improvement.
    • As an expert of the existing processes and operations participate in the creation of improvement ideas supporting sustainable growth of the company.
    • Support in idea generation and implementation.
    • Initiatives such as cost reduction, safety improvement, error reduction, …
    • Keep exploring all functionalities of warehouse software to fully utilize potential of implemented solutions.

  • Analyze and define best practice between DCs and drive standardization.
    • Participate in internal key program for process and system standardization.
    • Share best practices, convince stakeholders and drive implementation.
    • Pro-actively review WMS developments done in other DCs and consider if implementation could be useful in India/China.
      • Stay on top of new developments in other DCs.
  • Data engineering
    • support in setting up database with WMS related data.
    • support in implementing dashboards with the respective data in Zeiss' business intelligence software (powerBI).
    • Data validation.
    • Close collaboration with the SupplyChain analytics team.

Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree Logistics or data engineering. First experience with WMS. Experience with SAP EWM is big plus.

Work Experience

5-8 years, experience in Warehouse & Distribution system environment. Energetic, self-driven personality.

Specific Knowledge

Analytical skills, office environment, process and lean oriented, Fluent English, Mandarin as an advantage.

Energetic and self-motivated personality who likes to work in an international environment.

Office environment.

(Global) Travel availability required (20%).
