Threat Hunter 

Location: This job is available to work in one of our hub locations: Tampa, FL; Denver, CO; DC metro area, CA (Bay area), Austin, TX and will be hybrid

Reporting to the Director, Adversary Reponse  the Threat Hunter is responsible for identifying malicious activity on networks that bypass prevention and detection controls. As a Threat Hunter, you will be expected to be on the cutting edge of research and up-to-date with the current attacker tactics and techniques. Threat Hunters are expected to be familiar with the customers’ business and the common threats targeting their verticals and technologies. Threat Hunters must be able to effectively communicate with customers, clearly articulate their observations and provide guidance on the results of their hunts. In addition to performing threat hunts, you will be expected to leverage and disseminate collected intelligence to Deepwatch stakeholders.

As a Threat Hunter, you will contribute to and leverage Deepwatch’s tools and capabilities to provide various types of trends analyses for our customers.

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Perform threat hunting across Deepwatch’s entire customer base to identify and investigate potential security incidents, including reporting, documenting and managing hunt leads in a case management system
  • Leverage all available tools within the scope of a customer's environment to track anomalous activity and seek malicious actors
  • Analyze and communicate observed trends - within industry verticals and across all of Deepwatch’s customer base - to each customer and to Deepwatch
  • Provide support to Threat Operations during Significant Cyber Events (SCEs)
  • Validate suspicious events and incidents by using open-source and proprietary intelligence sources
  • Document new tools and techniques and disseminate information to the rest of the threat hunting team
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve issues, provide additional information, and answer questions related to incidents and hunt efforts
  • Keep up-to-date with information security news, techniques, and trends to identify emerging threats in line with industry trends
  • Coordinate with Threat Intel teams to operationalize intel into threat hunts, and partner with Detection team to develop threat hunts into detections

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:

  • Leverage strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Communicate with and present to customers
  • Be responsible for incident handling and response
  • Know operating systems and networks
  • Demonstrate Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in at least one of the following areas: 
    • Threat Intelligence
    • Network Traffic Analysis
    • Threat Hunting
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of attacker methodology including the tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Have a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Cybersecurity Operations
  • Possess experience with Splunk or other SIEM solutions, Ticketing Systems and Threat Intelligence platforms
  • OSCP, GCFA, GCIA, GCIH, CEH, GREM, CHFI or equivalent certification preferred



ITAR Compliance

The anticipated salary range for this role is $106,000 to $125,000 + stock options + benefits. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
