In this role, the Senior Associate Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for managing category negotiations across the US region for a set of Marketing and Media spend categories.

The Senior Associate Strategic Sourcing will play a key role executing sourcing strategies that align with business objectives, category strategy, and negotiation requirements. This includes leading sourcing initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and enabling third-party solutions that enhance AMGEN spend management, for the categories under the scope of responsibility.

The Senior Associate Strategic Sourcing will conduct scenario analysis and award suppliers beyond TCO, use evaluation criteria including Amgen-wide and business objectives (i.e. diversity, sustainability, innovation) and align award decisions based on broader supplier strategy and relationships.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Drive Sourcing events, on behalf of AMGEN US affiliates, delivering world class procurement services.
• Partner with Category Management and Business Partners to identify and build sourcing initiatives based on opportunities
• Deliver cost efficiencies, improved speed-to-market, and supplier innovation.
• Lead projects through sourcing events, vendor negotiations, and contract development for categories under the scope.
• Proactively help to ensure compliance and mitigate risks for the organization.
• Escalate issues through the sponsorship spine

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

• A minimum of 8 years and above experience with solid knowledge of sourcing strategies to successful execution
• Deep understanding of Strategic Sourcing principles, supplier relationship management, and contract lifecycle management.
• Strong financial, legal, and contractual fluency to navigate nuanced Indirect materials & services agreements and deliver business-aligned outcomes.

• Experience managing sourcing initiatives (complex, cross functional initiatives) from strategy development through execution and value realization.

• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate market insights.
• Ability to navigate and influence within matrixed organizations across functions, regions, and leadership levels.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights and drive supplier-enabled innovations to inform procurement decisions.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Advanced degree or significant professional experience in Strategic Procurement
• An analytical mindset focused on performance metrics and value management, encompassing the generation, realization, and recognition of pipeline value.
• Experience working across multiple markets within the US region.
• Familiarity with indirect procurement categories such as marketing services, consulting, Corporate Services, Market Intelligence or commercial operations.
• Experience supporting regional or global category strategies in collaboration with global procurement teams

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree and 4-6 years of business partnering, category management, strategic sourcing and/or related experience, OR

• Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of business partnering, category management, strategic sourcing and/or related experience
