About the Role:
Perform assembly, disassembly, rework, repair across all product lines including engines, sub-assemblies, and driven equipment. Work with engineers to help develop processes with and without information from Shop Floor Information System, operation instruction sheets, assembly drawings, bills of material, photographs, written and or oral instructions.
Job Duties
Assemble, disassemble, rework, and repair all product lines including engines, sub-assemblies, accessory units, and driven equipment.
Build, rebuild, fix/modify sub-assemblies in engine build area
Working knowledge of turbo-machinery theory with the ability to adapt, modify, and make shop aids for special projects.
Utilize working knowledge of turbomachinery to provide product support and technical assistance to internal and external customers.
During tear-down, exercise care to preserve, identify, and document evidence on engine or assemblies as a result of failed or nonfunctioning test.
Working with unique engineering instructions for assembly, disassembly, and measurement taking.
Collaborate with Manufacturing engineering and Design engineering for new product build processes.
Find faults and develop solutions to build stoppages with new processes/process improvements, shop aids, and development part modifications.
Installation, routing, and termination of all instrumentation
Ability to adjust build process to account for unique instrumentation on engine as required by build
Working knowledge of electronics for install and troubleshooting as required
Complete knowledge of all Dynos used for the company
Assembly, disassembly, repair, and rework for all Dyno’s used for test operations.
Balance rotor*
Knowledge of Test Cell operations for install and in-situ modifications to development engines as needed
Partial tear-down and part swap without removal from test cell
Routine maintenance to shop tools and equipment.
Operate/Use of various tools and equipment including precision measuring instruments, multi-meters, proximeters, bolt heater, hydraulic stretch tooling, pullers, torch, spot tack, forklift, tugs, build stand elevator, borescope, balancing machine, specialized induction heaters, arbor press, and overhead cranes.
Perform the duties of Production Gas Turbine Mechanic as required
Perform the duties of engine mechanic classification as required
Minimum Qualifications:
High school Diploma, GED or equivalent
3 Years of Mechanical Experience
Experience with Precision Measuring Devices (multi-meters, dial calipers, depth mics, etc.)
Able to read and interpret blueprints/drawings
Experience with forklift, overhead crane and rigging
Mechanical aptitude
Must be willing to work any shift
Must include Resume in application
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience working with gas turbines or other turbomachinery.
Thermocouples wiring with termination experience
Experience in the following: Proximeter, bolt heater, hydraulic stretch tooling, pullers, torch, spot tacker, build stand elevator
Military Gas Turbine or Aviation Experience
A&P License

Summary Pay Range:
$25.20 - $44.54Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
