The Iowa State University Catering Team is seeking a qualified Manager Food Services I to oversee food service operations, onsite food production, facilities, and personnel. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality catering and food services.

Example of Duties:
Supervises and participates in ensuring the smooth running of the catering service’s catered meals ensuring the standards of quality, quantity, sanitation and efficiency are met.
Assures that all customer needs are being met by providing a customer friendly environment, maintaining outstanding standards, maintaining current product knowledge, and all other components of catering services.
Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature for the purpose of projected meal requirements and to minimize waste of food items.
Inspects food/supplies to verify quantities, quality and specifications of catering orders.
Supervise activities of assigned staff, including full-time staff and student employees.
Assists with coordinating food service schedules in order to provide coverage for catered events.
Establish positive working relationships with staff.
Direct and participate in the training of all personnel in the established personal sanitation and safety standards.
Creates and updates staffing schedule, monitors, grants/denies requests off and creates weekly schedules.
Participates in requisitioning of food, equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining an adequate inventory and meeting budget goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience supervising food service, catering, or hospitality operations, including oversight of daily service delivery and event execution.
Strong commitment to customer service, with the ability to build positive client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
Experience leading, training, and developing staff, including full-time and student employees, while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Knowledge of food quality standards, food safety, sanitation, and inventory management practices in a high-volume food service operation.
Proven ability to coordinate staffing schedules, manage labor resources, and support operational efficiency while meeting budgetary goals.
This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week and requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, based on operational needs. Weekend work is required as needed but is not expected every weekend.
